I have been achy and sore all week from two things. First is from massaging too much second is from going to Lauren's yoga class on Tuesday. She really makes sure I get my money's worth by pushing the whole class to the edge. With limbs trembling and sweat pouring, my mind takes a back seat for once. I don't even correct her when she calls me Judy. Since it means "Jewish woman", I wonder if I look Jewish? Oh well she can call me whatever she wants.
There's a fine balance for me with yoga and massage, they compliment each other but if I do too much of either one, the other falls to the way side. So I am very happy and relieved that I am back to an ideal work amount. 4 days a week with Saturdays off. Hello marathon training and new yoga poses.
Epsom salt baths are my savior when I'm doing a lot of bodywork and can't afford a massage ( hah the irony). My body gets to feel weightless for 20min, nervous system calms down, blood flows easily- it's a little mini detox.
I've also been drinking a lot of coconut water lately. Lots of celebrities are doing it but it's more than a fad. Coconut water has more electrolytes than a sports drink (which are mostly sugar anyway) and more potassium than a banana( which also has lots of sugar)! Potassium is a micro nutrient that keeps our muscles contracting smoothly and assists the sending of nerve impulses throughout the body. You know you are lacking in potassium if you frequently get muscles cramps.
Sleep is something I have not been lacking in lately. I love my memory foam and air ionizer (white noise) because they make sure I get that deep, restorative rest. Having a good cuddler next to me doesn't hurt either. I was reading about feng shui in the bedroom. Apparently having your head face South is the most optimal for deep sound sleep. As a matter of fact any direction is advised except North which leads to sleeplessness and major illness! I currently sleep facing west, which is not recommended but it's the only way my bed fits.
