I’ve been listening to a calling and following a vision towards healing, personal and collective.

This has been my interest and motivation since before I can remember, weaving through all decisions and relationships. Authentic discovery of self care, healing arts and connection to the earth has taken on many forms since childhood into my adult life. After 17 years of service through bodywork, owning a wellness space and immersion of ceremonial offerings I am transitioning to primarily self care education and artistic expression. What’s most important for you to know is I’m committed to sharing my message and gifts from the purest intent and heart centered place.

Personal and Professional

TIMELINE

  • I was born in San Diego, California and raised in rural Jamul with my 8 siblings on 10 acres in the house my dad built. We were(are) an adventurous, free spirited and unconventional family. Outdoors was always my true temple, although we went to an evangelical Christian church every Sunday. I felt most spiritual hiking barefoot to seek a good view, finding grinding stones of Kumeyaay tribe, sun-bleached bird skulls or lilac in bloom. While dreaming of being an actress or published poet I realized I was naturally interested and skilled in caring for people therapeutically. A few pivotal experiences are - sitting with a family friend dying of cancer when I was 12, seeing her spirit going in and out of her body. Viscerally feeling empathetic pain when my mother had congestive heart failure and then open heart surgery. I volunteered as an aide in the rehabilitation department at Sharp hospital, and eventually was hired as a Physical Therapist Aide before technical credentials. I went on two evangelical expeditions – to Spain and Nicaragua – in both places I experienced the power of intentional prayer, generosity of people and full authentic disengagement from the Christian belief system. I moved out of my childhood home at 18 during the Cedar Fire evacuations.

  • I bought a 1978 Chevy convertible for $200 that I called Chester and started to put myself through prereqs for Physical Therapy at the local community college while working three jobs. Trader Joes clerk, Physical Therapist Aide and caretaker for a quadriplegic. I included partying in my commitments as much as I was able and went on a girls surfing trip to Costa Rica summer 2004. I attempted to drown myself there to escape being raped. I had an out-of-body experience during the sexual assault. Upon returning back to work and school I started to act out and disassociate socially but also got professional help. I started seeing psychologists and psychiatrists as I dropped into severe depression, trying prescriptions to help my mental health. Eventually I found a holistic health school and enrolled in their intro program that included a massage therapy certification. I went on to get my Associates of Science there and chose to study alternative health over the western medical physical therapy degree.

At 21 I started a successful bodywork practice and added a yoga teacher training, immersing myself in all things self care. I moved to San Francisco with my Texas boyfriend where we treated each other to wine country weekends, festivals, concerts and all the hippy techy culture we could handle. I started a healing arts practice that included mentoring other therapists and co-hosting wellness retreats. The success of my practice and strength of my reputation offered me opportunities with startups and celebrities and continued business growth. I went through an extensive experience with next level pain and healing after breaking my left foot requiring two surgeries. On the tail end of full recovery, with the help of an investor and encouragement from peers and mentors, I ended up opening a multidisciplinary wellness collective called DeHart Studios. I consider this my PhD in wellness industry, entrepreneurialism and the San Francisco scene.

  • In the 5 years of operation DeHart Studios offered working residencies to over 40 therapists, numerous local community events and self care workshops. I managed this business while still collaborating on retreats, becoming a birth doula and ever deepening my own healing journey. I regulated my energy output by numerous off-grid getaways, or intimate retreats. Backpacking or camping in Yosemite, Point Reyes or the Trinity Alps with friends and lovers; recalibrating existentially in nature. Esalen Institute in Big Sur was a consistent personal growth sanctuary since 2008, I stayed and soaked in the waters there often. I also started participating in various plant ceremony communities and exploring indigenous ritual rites. I was invited to a Lakota Reservation permaculture convergence after Standing Rock.

As 2020 approached my DeHart Studios commercial lease was up for renewal and I was all in for another 5. I was on a pilgrimage in the Middle East with a group of mystics spiritually preparing for the turn of the decade when I got news my lease was to be doubled. In full empowered surrender I returned and supported a change of ownership for my healing space as the best course of action. The pandemic hit 2 months later and I began a whole new book of my life along with everyone else. I turned into a digital nomad traveling around North America working over zoom and taking creative work opportunities in new places. Currently, I’ve been magnetized to build a home in Montana, there’s something about land and sky here.
